This architecture has two major benefits - (1) Peace of mind (2) Single login/password

Peace of Mind:

Since the SmartGlance server is setup within your own premises, you do not have to worry about security at all. Your company's standard security mechanisms including firewalls will apply. Also, it gives you full control over the data. Overall, you have the peace of mind that your data in not leaving the building.

Single Sign-On:

Hosted Solution:

Organizations considering using cloud services face making a decision similar to the choice of outsourcing key services. Choosing to place information in the cloud requires an informed decision to transfer operational risk to the cloud provider. Meanwhile, risks to information security and concerns about privacy remain high on the list of issues cloud customers are evaluating. Weighing the benefits and costs of operational risk transference involves closely reviewing trustworthiness of a cloud provider.

Security tends to be something that people focus on a lot, and they should," says Modruson, CIO of Accenture. "You want your information to be secure. " The perception that something under your control is inherently more secure is misguided, he says. Is your money safer in the bank or under your mattress? Cloud vendors, because of their scale, may invest much more in security than a single enterprise ever would, Modruson says. The key is to approach cloud security diligently: test, monitor, review.

The SmartGlance service hosts data on a server owned and operated by Microsoft and located at a Microsoft Data Center in Chicago. The SmartGlance service is also powered by Windows Azure, a cloud services operating system that has numerous security features implemented within the platform.

This strategy eliminates your capital costs completely and reduces the on-going costs significantly. It also places your data with a provider whose trustworthiness and best practices are the best in the world.

Cut your investment risks with SmartGlance:

  • SmartGlance offers the product as a pay as you go service. It is a low-risk alternative to traditional packages. You pay a small one-time start-up fee and a low monthly usage fee. There are no hidden costs, no maintenance fees, and no charges for upgrades or support.

No Capital Costs and No On-Going Maintenance costs:

  • Since the data is hosted on a secured database on the internet host system, you do not need any system at your location. You can save costs of System and Application level Resources such as Hardware, Operating System, Databases, Application Software and Updates/Upgrades. Large network servers can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000. You can also reduce IT maintenance costs as there is no need to update, upgrade or backup the software.

Improve Reliability & Security

  • A system cannot be more secure than the physical platform on which it runs. SmartGlance runs at a Microsoft facility, sharing space and utilities with other Microsoft Online Services. Each facility is designed to run 24 x 7 and employs various measures to help protect operations from power failure, physical intrusion, and network outages. These data centers comply with industry standards for physical security and reliability and they are managed, monitored, and administered by Microsoft operations personnel. They are designed for “lights out” operation.
