Visualization - Follow the guidelines below to effectively monitor your business in Real Time.

Recommendation Description Applicable for Example
Report Title 1 (RT1),
Report Title 2 (RT2)

RT1 is typically the main title of the report. E.g. Production Report as shown in image. The RT2 is typically the generic info about that report such as "Plant Name" or "Region/Location" or "Server Name". These fields are mandatory.

Unique Report Name

The RT1 and RT2 together identify a report. If you would like to update an existing report, you can just send new data with the same RT1 and RT2. If you want to create a new report, you can easily do that by changing the RT1 or RT2. (Do not modify RT1 or RT2 unless you would like to create a new report)

Report Title 3 (RT3) / Sub Report Title

RT3 is not mandatory but can be efficiently used to define the period or date of the report that changes all the time. E.g. October 14th, 2011. RT3 can be 50 characters long.RT2 and RT3 together scroll from right to left on the phone

Column and Row Headers

For a nice, readable display on a small mobile screen, please limit text to 13 characters for each Column Header and Row Header. Choose appropriate header names to identify each column/row for good readability. SmartGlance also offers an easy way to XY Swap and view a report flipped sideways. So, please ensure that rows are also appropriate and clearly identifiable.

Real Time Reports

The real time report always has the cursor by default on the last updated column; every time the report gets refreshed a new column gets added to the report. The report has a maximum 120 columns which means after every refresh the earlier columns are overwritten. The real time report has a Date and Time stamp on the Column header which differentiates it from the table reports.

Standard reports / Table reports / Historical reports

Any report which is not a real time report is a Historical report/ Standard report/ Table report; the two major differences between these type of reports is that the iButtons are not available in different colors as they are not real time and secondly the availability of the XY Flip button in the standard report which is disabled in Real Time Report.

advance analysis

Many times reports need to be analysed in Standard and XY Swapped mode. SmartGlance offers a quick button to XY swap any report. It is important to design the reports in such a way so that even in XY swapped mode, they make sense. Also, to ensure that the column heads follow the 13 characters limit in both - Standard and XY swapped mode.

Action Tools - Follow the below guidelines to effectively Solve Problems

Recommendation Description Applicable for Example

Drill down to
pinpoint problems

The drill down functionality can be defined in a way wherein you can jump from one report to other. You can have the name of the child/destination report in a specific format so that you can just tap on a report to goto the next report. This can be used to pinpoint a problem. There is no limit on number of drill down levels. For e.g. You can have a top parent level report showing shipment at plants, child level report showing production lines and grand child level report showing machine stoppages. User can then start from plant, drill down to production lines and further drill down to machine stoppage report.

Currency symbols in the data cell

Avoid using the currency symbols in the data as charts treat them as non-numeric data and are not plotted. You can place the currency symbol in the column header itself. e.g. Profit ($). If you are not planning to view charts, using the currency symbols in the data cell will not be a problem.
